Reading some James Ellroy
I have been meaning to read James Ellroy’s American Tabloid for a few years now, so I picked it up at the airport bookshop this morning.

I’m about 200 pages into it, and it does not disappoint.
I met Ellroy many years ago, back when I was a manager at the Borders in Beachwood, OH. He did a signing at the store; I think he was on tour for My Dark Places.
He’s got a reputation for being aggressively weird in his public presentation, and my friends, Incan confirm that is true. He was perfectly pleasant and respectful to all us of at the store—which was often not the case with authors doing signings—but he was definitely a strange dude.
